{"id":1803,"date":"2020-03-30T20:46:04","date_gmt":"2020-03-30T20:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/?p=1803"},"modified":"2020-03-30T20:47:07","modified_gmt":"2020-03-30T20:47:07","slug":"sheltering-in-place-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/sheltering-in-place-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheltering In Place &#8211; Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"652\" height=\"266\" src=\"https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shelter-In-Place-II.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1804\" srcset=\"https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shelter-In-Place-II.jpg 652w, https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Shelter-In-Place-II-480x196.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 652px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Sheltering in Place \u2013 Part II<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Part I, ( <a href=\"https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/sheltering-in-place-part-i\/\">https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/sheltering-in-place-part-i\/<\/a>&nbsp; ), I talked about the Israelites\nexperience of sheltering in place as God protected them and prepared them for\nwhat was to come.&nbsp; In Part II I am\nlooking at a New Testament example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why\nShelter in Place?!!?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Acts\n1:4-8, 12-14<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Acts1, Jesus was on the precipice\nof ascending to heaven.&nbsp; He commanded His\ndisciples to remain in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came.&nbsp; As I read that passage, I thought about my\nfive points again from the Part I.&nbsp; Once\nagain, try to apply this to your current situation.&nbsp; It overlays nicely\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>There was a reason for it.<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>&nbsp;It was for their good.&nbsp; God was separating them out from the\nworld.&nbsp; He was also teaching them\nobedience and to exercise their <em>waiting\nmuscles<\/em>.&nbsp; Maybe this was an\nopportunity for them to rest after all they had been through. There was also\ncertainly an emphasis on the disciples praying.<\/li><li><strong><em>There was a determined end<\/em><\/strong> to them staying inside.&nbsp;\nThis one is more applicable to our situation.&nbsp; The Israelites had a determined time they had\nto wait.&nbsp; These disciples had an open\nended \/ unknown end.&nbsp; The only thing they\nwere told was it was coming to an end at some point.&nbsp; When the Holy Spirit came.&nbsp; Jesus also told them in 1:8 that there was\nwork for them to do.&nbsp; They were going to\nbe His mouthpieces to the world.<\/li><li><strong><em>There was something miraculous\nhappening outside those locked doors<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; In the spirit, God was working.&nbsp; Ordering every moment preparing for the\narrival of the Holy Spirit.&nbsp; Everything\nwas perfectly timed.&nbsp; People\u2019s hearts\nwere being prepared (unknowingly) for what was coming.<\/li><li><strong><em>There was something miraculous\nhappening INSIDE those walls<\/em><\/strong><strong>.&nbsp; <\/strong>God was preparing them for what was to come. He was connecting\nand uniting them (in one accord).&nbsp; He was\nteaching them to pray as one.&nbsp; This is\nreally the first official church meeting!<\/li><li><strong><em>There was a move of God about to\nhappen<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp;\nPentecost was coming!&nbsp; Peter\nwalked out of that time of sheltering in place and preached the greatest sermon\never preached up to that time.&nbsp; On that\nday alone, God saved 3,000 souls from their bondage.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we are not alone.&nbsp; Sheltering in place has biblical\nfoundations.&nbsp; The enemy is at work through\nthis global panic.&nbsp; But God has His\nreasons for our current circumstance.&nbsp; He\nis protecting His people.&nbsp; He is\npreparing us for now and what\u2019s to come.&nbsp;\nMost important, He is WITH us!&nbsp; In\nPart III, I will talk about Sheltering In Place well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sheltering in Place \u2013 Part II In Part I, ( https:\/\/immanuelpracticum.com\/book\/sheltering-in-place-part-i\/&nbsp; ), I talked about the Israelites experience of sheltering in place as God protected them and prepared them for what was to come.&nbsp; In Part II I am looking at a New Testament example.
