Fruit Check – Part II
I have been thinking more about the fruit of my Immanuel sessions with Jesus over the past 10 years. Part I of these thoughts is here: https://immanuelpracticum.com/book/fruit-check/
As I continue to notice change in my life, one thing that came to mind this week was that I am trusting more the truth of Matthew 6:33. Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” I am finding that as I seek Him first, in ALL things, the rest of life just seems to fall into place. It may not play out like I expect (or sometimes the way I think I want), but it always is moving towards His good. By presenting myself to Him weekly in my session, and allowing Him into those places in my heart that are wounded, I allow Jesus to bring healing. I then become more free to walk out my life WITH Him.
Next, I am finding that I am becoming more comfortable with being me. The more I am with Jesus, the more I can see how He sees me. How perfectly accepted and loved I am. One thing that Jesus said to me that I will never forget was, “Bob, you are different.” It meant so much on so many different levels. Mainly, it helped me be OK with who I am because He made me this way. It was a life-changing message from Him.
Tied in with becoming more comfortable with being me is that I am becoming more open to what He made me to do. If we have stuff in the way of our relationship with God, our Spiritual gifting will be hindered. I dream of Jesus’ church working with Him to get healthy, working on their triggering, and then ministering in their true gifts. Take a minute and daydream about that. Imagine the power of the church in this world if we were walking in our true identity, true giftings, and connected to the true Lord Jesus!
The last thing that I have been noticing is that my memory is actually improving. Up until recently, I would try to think of something (some fact, name, etc…) and I would feel blocked from accessing the answer. It was so frustrating! Lately, I am noticing that I am able to recall those details more readily. It’s really amazing! I feel like I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind (Romans 12:2). My brain has been working so hard over my lifetime storing up and managing painful events. As Jesus heals those places, my brain is freer to do productive things.
Another brain science piece of fruit is that when we allow Jesus to heal those painful places in our hearts, we become more creative and flexible, more relational (with God and with others), more able to attune to others, more able to receive attunement…More ALIVE!
Jesus really knows what He is doing. He knows us. He knows what is in the way of us being our best. He knows what is in the way of our relationship with Him. It is such a privilege to walk out this intimacy journey with Him. It is such a good practice to look back and reflect every once in a while. With Him!
